The Wedding Guest
Photo Report Summer 2026

We looked at 114,296 photos and videos taken by guests at 371 weddings held between May and September 2026, in 9 countries. This report shows how many photos guests take, when they take them, who takes the most, and how long the couple waits to see them.

Who we are

Gather & Group is a wedding photo sharing service. Guests scan a QR code and upload the photos they took. There's no app and no account. The couple gets every photo in one gallery, sorted by the people in them.

When guests take photos

Each column is the number of photos taken in that hour, across all 371 weddings.

3pm The busiest hour. 12% of the day's photos were taken between 3pm and 4pm.

6pm Photos fall by more than a third from the afternoon peak, then pick up again at 7pm. That's usually when guests sit down to eat.

After 8pm One photo in five is taken after 8pm. At three weddings in four, guests were still taking photos after 10pm.

Based on the 80,071 photos that carry a timestamp from the wedding day. Hours before 6am are left out: 67 photos in total.

When the photos reach the couple

Guests take their photos on the day. Most of them upload later.

Half by the next night 54% of photos have arrived by the end of the day after the wedding. The day after is the busiest day of all.

Nine in ten within a week 89% of photos have arrived seven days after the wedding.

A long tail 2.6% arrive more than a month later, about one photo in forty.

Days after the wedding, by upload date. “Day” is the wedding day and includes the 3.6% of photos uploaded before it. The last two columns group several days.
Only one wedding photo in six reaches the couple on the wedding day.

Midweek weddings get more photos

Monday to Thursday
269

Median photos per wedding, from 85 weddings.

Friday to Sunday
227

Median photos per wedding, from 286 weddings.

The typical midweek wedding got 42 more guest photos than the typical weekend one. The data shows the gap but can't tell us why.

The keen guest

39%

On average, the most active guest uploads 39% of all the photos at a wedding. At most weddings, one guest uploads far more than anyone else.

The numbers at a glance

Median photos per wedding
236

Half of weddings got more than this and half got fewer.

Average per wedding
308

Higher than the median because a few very big weddings pull it up.

Most from one wedding
2,506

The most photos and videos we've seen from a single wedding.

Guests who uploaded
11.7

The average number of different guests who uploaded at a wedding.

78.6% of photos have at least one person in them. 6.2% of uploads are video. Couples marked about one photo in 33 as a favourite. Around 39% were taken in near-identical bursts.

How we counted

The figures cover 114,296 photos and videos uploaded by guests at 371 weddings held between May and September 2026. We left out weddings from October onwards because their guests were still uploading. We counted weddings where at least three different guests uploaded. This leaves out couples who never shared their QR code. Including every wedding (387), the median falls from 236 to 228 and the average from 308 to 297. Test accounts, sample content and deleted photos are left out.

Times come from the camera clock, so they are local to each wedding. 3pm means 3pm wherever the wedding was. Only the 80,071 photos (70%) with a timestamp from the wedding day are in the hourly chart. For arrival, we compared the upload time with the wedding date.

Near-identical photos are the ones our duplicate check groups together because they look almost the same. The count includes the best photo in each group as well as its repeats.

All figures are totals or medians across weddings. No couple, guest or photo can be identified from them.

The keen guest figure uses the name each guest gave when uploading. Uploads with no name count towards the total but not as a guest, so it errs on the low side.

We think the 6pm dip is dinner, but the data can't tell us why it happens.
