How Guest Uploads Work

When guests scan your QR code, they're taken to a simple upload page designed to work on any smartphone.

The Guest Experience

  1. Scan the QR code – Using their phone's camera or a QR reader app
  2. Enter their name – This helps you identify who took each photo
  3. Select photos – They can choose multiple photos and videos at once
  4. Upload – Photos are uploaded with progress shown
  5. Done! – A confirmation appears when complete

What Guests Can Upload

  • Photos – JPEG, PNG, HEIC (iPhone), and other common formats
  • Videos – MP4, MOV, and other video formats
  • Any quantity – No limit on number of uploads, but each batch is limited to 100 items
  • Any size – Large files are handled automatically

Privacy Notice

The upload page includes a brief privacy notice informing guests that:

  • Photos are shared with the couple only, not other guests
  • Face recognition may be used to organise photos (Premium)
  • Contributors are given the option to delete images they've just uploaded immediately after uploading, this gives them an opportunity to delete anything they uploaded by mistake

What Happens After Upload

Once a photo is uploaded:

  1. It enters a processing queue
  2. A thumbnail is generated
  3. Quality is assessed (blur detection)
  4. EXIF data (date, location) is extracted
  5. For Premium: face detection runs
  6. It appears in your gallery

This typically takes a few seconds, depending on file size and current queue length.

Duplicate Detection

If the same photo is uploaded twice (by the same guest or different guests), we automatically detect the duplicate and only keep one copy. This saves storage and prevents clutter.
